We give our puppies the best start in life through what is called "natural rearing". They are fed a natural diet of species appropriate foods. We give them only natural remedies and naturopathic preventative care. All this while they get to explore the world in our safe, chemical-free environment.

Research is a must. It's up to you how far you want to go in your search for the truth. There are many NR (Natural Rearing) Breeders and websites to learn from. Each one has a story similar to ours, and probably yours too, if you have owned other animals.

Problems with the Traditional Route

We have had purebred dogs with various ailments in the past. Tumors, cancer, allergies (requiring expensive monthly shots!), chronic ear infections, etc. We did everything the professionals told us to do, only to watch our dogs get worse. In the case of the allergy issue, we broke our bank account trying to be good stewards of our dog, only to watch her get worse. When we asked the doctor why it wasn't improving, they admitted that it was all "trial and error". They would "try" something else. We couldn't afford it anymore and it pained us to watch her bleed from her constant scratching. We will spare you the rest of the details.

God-given Instincts

Watching our current dogs in their naturally reared environment has been a delightful experience for us. We no longer worry when they dig up roots or eat grasses and plants. We watch to see which ones they are looking for and look up the benefits of those plants and parts. They are eating the enzymes and nutrients their body needs all by the instincts God gave them. Amazing! If the plant induces vomiting, then we know their body needed to get something bad out. Natural rearing has taught us to trust God's designs and to look for wisdom and use logic to think things through. We are so thankful for the grace we have in these learning moments, that none of the plants will cause any permanent damage, and the dogs know which ones to avoid.

We HIGHLY recommend that you write out a FIRST AID sheet for quick reference in emergencies and stressful situations. We keep ours posted on the fridge.

In this day and age we have access to information that enables us to do our own "trial and error" with natural herbs and salves that won't cause any harm to our pets. Herbs do not have the adverse side effects of life-long damage that many medications have. We have knowledge of how God created the digestive systems of these animals to work. We can keep them at peak performance and enable their natural immunity to rid them of parasites and diseases. Natural rearing is empowering in its ability to help us make wise decisions for our animal companions.
